Norway 2009, Video Update 1

Hi! We are currently in Norway, 3 days in to our Norway 2009 expedition! The journey here took from leaving Nottingham at 13:00 to the following day at 8am! Camp 1 is now however full in flow.

Today was the first days walking, the rain stayed away and all groups had thoroughly decent view of the fjords and glaciers around us.

We hope to bring you more updates throughout the expedition (wi-fi dependent!) – below is our first video webcast…

Year 9 Training Expedition

Saturday 21st June, the longest day of the year. Two groups each with five members set off on their ~15km routes in, to quote Pete, somewhat “moist” weather. With both groups making good time, they arrived at the Castle Inn campsite to dry off in their tents and prepare their evening meals: pasta and dolmio sauce followed by chocolate roll and custard.

Sunday 22nd June began considerably warmer, yet uncommonly windy for the time of year. The groups left camp around 9.30am to make good progress throughout the day, stopping for an occasional photo…

Rebrand

This Spring marks a special occasion for the 34th. In light of the Scouting Movement celebrating just over 100 years of Scouting (see Centenary of Scouting ), the 34th is following procedures to rebrand in recognition of this event and will soon become known as “134th Nottingham Scouts”.

Groups that have already rebranded include 124th Nottingham Scouts and 121st Glasgow Scouts

The ‘upgrade’ will mark the beginning of a new era of Scouting at 34th 134th Nottingham and we look forward to hearing your comments and ideas for the future.

Yours,
Shirley Knot
