Walking into the harassing mists of hell, we left the reservoir, heading steeply uphill. Eventually we reached the top of the ridge and the dreaded Mondelli Pass which marked the Italian border. We soon began descending down the other side which was no mean feat – every step down the sheer scree cliff started a mini landslide. After descending 1700m over 3 hours we arrived in Mondelli.
After our waking up for the first time in Italy, we began our huge ascent to the “Golden Statue”. The climb down into Switzerland seemed a lot less tasking than the previous day. Ashley lost the radio he had taken into his care and ran over a kilometre back up the hill to get it! What a Hero!
