Canoeing Expedition

Over the bank holiday weekend we took a group of 10 scouts to the Wye for some canoeing. The weather on Saturday was a lot better than expected. We soon found that the ability to steer the canoes was somewhat lacking, however the wind was behind us and we were soon cruising along like gondoliers in a motorboat, leaving us time to play some games before we got to our campsite. After a small inferno of a campfire we settled in for a cold night.

Unfortunately the weather on the Sunday and Monday wasn’t quite as kind. We seemed to be paddling against the wind a lot, however spirits were high and we made good progress. A great weekend was had by all and canoeing skills showed a vast improvement over the weekend. We look forward to running this trip again in the future.
