Over the weekend year 9s completed their annual trip to the vale of Belvoir. This expedition aims to bridge the gap between fully supervised day hikes and their Duke of Edinburgh, which they start in year 10. The scouts are expected to carry all of their equipment and walk mostly unsupervised, meeting us at checkpoints along the route.
This is always a challenging weekend for the scouts. It teaches them valuable lessons for their Duke of Edinburgh, such as packing in a way that doesn’t end up with them having a bag which weighs more than them! Despite a run in with some inquisitive cows the expedition was successful, and good weather as always. Hopefully the scouts are well prepared for next year now.
